Spring cleaning on your to-do-list? Here are Madame Paulette®’s top tips for interiors to start the season:
1) If you’re switching curtains to a lighter fabric for spring, make sure to have them professionally cleaned before you store them for the next season as the dust will settle and cause color abrasions.
2) Craft a homemade cleaner for painted surfaces:
a. Mix 1⁄2 cup vinegar, 1 cup clear ammonia, 1⁄4 cup baking soda, and 1 gallon warm water. Caution: Wear rubber gloves and work in a well-ventilated area with this powerful solution.
b. Apply to the wall with a sponge, and rinse with clear water. If your walls have a rough texture, use old nylon stockings or socks rather than a sponge to prevent tearing (and those pesky difficult-to-remove bits left behind on the surface).
3) A Madame Paulette® MUST: Fiber/Fabric Protect your carpet and other home furnishings! Fiber/Fabric Protection guards against future spills, stains, spots and soils, and will keep them from penetrating and ruining the fabric.
4) Be mindful of what your cleaning products are made from. If you have children or pets, using certain products in a confined area could be harmful. Even if not harmful, children and even pets can develop allergies to certain chemicals. If using home remedies, Madame Paulette®suggests these products: vinegar, baking soda and/or salt, cinnamon and cloves, cornstarch, alcohol (once dry), steam, borax, mineral oil and micro-fiber cloths.
The Madame Paulette® team of specialists conducts complimentary on-site consultations for a comprehensive analysis that includes estimates on fiber protection, flame retardant (with certification), debris removal, household textiles, air ionization and purification, odor removal, cleaning of walls, floors and ceilings, restoration and re-upholstery of all textiles and interior furnishings. Madame Paulette® staffs an Art Conservator, specializing in the restoration and preservation of the world’s most priceless furniture, artifacts and paneling. Madame Paulette® Restoration efforts also work toward insect control, as insects such as moths, bed bugs and bed mites feed on natural fabrics, attracted to stains or soiled areas.
Surprise spill? Not to worry, Madame Paulette® is here to help— enter, the Madame Paulette® Professional Stain Removal Kit! Unlike conventional stain removers, Madame Paulette® has taken into account the two most important factors for safe and effective stain removal:time (the most important! The sooner the stain can be treated, the easier it is to remove) and stain identification (every stain has a different composition).
